Events
Wake Up the Garden!
Wednesday, May 27, 2-4pm, in the Garden
Join gardeners and volunteers in the Countway Community Garden for an afternoon of community, light garden work, and seasonal care. Meet folks from around campus, get to know the space, and help us wake up the garden for the new growing season. We’ll tackle a few projects to spruce up the space and make it more welcoming for gardeners and visitors alike. Drop in anytime between 2-4pm and stay as long as you’re able. RSVP is encouraged so we can plan for projects and supplies.
Garden Advisory Team
Help shape the next season of the Countway Community Garden! The Garden Advisory Team is a collaborative, year-round group that supports the garden’s mission and vision by sharing ideas, supporting small projects, and helping keep the space welcoming for the community. Chaired by the Outreach Coordinator, the team is open to students, faculty, staff, and postdocs from across the Harvard Longwood Campus and affiliate hospitals. Click below to learn more or sign up. If you would like to join this team, please email us.
Garden Beds
Each spring, Harvard ID holders on the Harvard Longwood Campus can request a raised garden bed to tend for the growing season (April-November). The 2026 garden bed request list is now full, but we are always looking for volunteers. Please email us with any questions!
Rules for All Gardeners
The following rules were composed to help all gardeners enjoy this communal space. All 2026 gardeners requesting plots are required to agree to the following. Failure to comply with these rules will result in losing the opportunity to garden in the next growing season. Email us with any questions.
- I agree to keep my assigned bed well-maintained throughout the growing season (May-November), including regular maintenance such as watering, weeding, and pest control.
- I agree to winterize my bed by the first frost (October/November). This includes cleaning up and prepping the bed for the winter, either with mulch or cover crops.
- I agree to be a good steward of the garden, keeping the overall garden space (including the brick courtyard) clean and free of trash and debris, and to remind others (and ourselves!) of the "pack in/pack out" policy regarding trash.
- I agree to avoid using chemical fertilizers and pest management techniques.
- I understand that I am responsible for providing all plants, seeds, and any additional treatments used in my own bed. Garden management will provide garden beds, soil, and tools. (For seeds, check out our new Seed Library!)
- I understand that the Countway Community Garden is not responsible for lost or stolen plants, supplies, or personal items left in the garden.
- I understand that garden beds are assigned for only one year at a time.
Please note: groups are welcome and encouraged to request shared beds.
