A Rotating Arts Initiative at Countway Library

Overview
Countway Library is delighted to present Art@Countway, a rotating arts initiative that brings original exhibitions by artists across the Harvard Longwood Campus and beyond into the library’s shared spaces. Located at the heart of campus, this program transforms the library into a site of artistic expression, dialogue, and connection.
Art@Countway celebrates the creative talents of a diverse community, including students, faculty, researchers, staff, postdoctoral fellows, and healthcare professionals from Harvard Medical School, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Through both individual and group exhibitions, we aim to showcase a wide range of artistic voices and perspectives.
In addition to featuring artists from the Harvard Longwood Campus, Art@Countway also welcomes exhibitions from artists and collaborators beyond Harvard whose work engages with themes relevant to our community. These may include, but are not limited to, the history of medicine, public health, health equity, caregiving, scientific discovery, and the human experience of illness and healing. By inviting external voices into our spaces, we seek to broaden dialogue, connect academic and public communities, and deepen engagement with the subjects that shape our campus’s work.
We are committed to highlighting artists from varied cultural, social, and disciplinary backgrounds, and to presenting work that reflects Boston’s vibrant artistic community. This initiative aligns with Harvard’s mission to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering empathy and cross-cultural understanding through visual art while contributing to a more human-centered environment for study, reflection, and community gathering.
Exhibitions are hosted on a rolling basis, typically on view for approximately six weeks at a time, and are displayed across the limestone walls on the first floor of the library and on the digital monitors throughout the building.
If you work, study, or teach on the Harvard Longwood Campus—or are an artist or collaborator whose work aligns with these themes—and are interested in exhibiting, we warmly encourage you to reach out to us.
