Scott Harris Podolsky has served as the Director of the Center for the History of Medicine at the Countway Library since 2006. Working with Emily Gustainis, the Center’s Deputy Director, and their talented colleagues, he has long helped to guide the efforts of the Center to enable the history of medicine and public health to inform healthcare, the health sciences, and the societies in which they are embedded.
In addition to his role at the Countway, Podolsky is a primary care physician at Massachusetts General Hospital and Professor of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Podolsky graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College with a bachelor's degree in history and science. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Medical School.
