Week 30: Celebrating Countway Library Staff and Their Contributions to the Community

National Medical Librarians Month is celebrated each year during the month of October. We are taking this opportunity to honor the contributions of all Countway Library staff who support the Longwood Medical Campus and beyond to carry out the health and public health missions of education, research, patient care and community services.

Countway communication and branding efforts via our Outreach Office and social media campaigns have focused on building Countway Library’s image as a diverse, inclusive, multi-discipline community connecting everyone through learning, wellness, enrichment and of course, resources. To highlight National Medical Librarian Month, Countway communications will pivot to underscore the value of library expertise as a user benefit. People may know what a medical library provides, but not the game-changing value of working with skilled, experienced information and resource specialists to make their jobs easier and their outcomes more productive.

Beginning this month and through the opening of the newly renovated library space in January, we will communicate the message that Countway Library staff provide a value-added service to students, faculty and health professionals by saving them time, making searches more productive and efficient and delivering electronic, print, and historical resources of quality over quantity.

There are three Campaign themes:

  • Making Your Job Easier – Illustrate benefits of collaborative, personalized research for more effective outcomes
  • Did You Know – Highlight unseen library strengths from depth of resources to benefits of Countway library staff led services
  • How We Can Help – Describe the specific ways library and information resource specialist expertise benefits users

In the weeks that follow, watch for specific communication messages under these themes. Some targeted examples follow.
