It is with mixed emotions that we announce the upcoming retirement of Paul Bain, PhD, MLIS, Manager of Research & Instruction, on May 8.
Paul’s career at Countway spans 27 years, beginning as a casual employee in the Rare Books Department (now the Center for the History of Medicine). He went on to serve for many years as a Research & Instruction Librarian before stepping into his current role as Manager.
Over nearly three decades, Paul has made substantial and enduring contributions to biomedical research and education across the Harvard Longwood campus, supporting students, faculty, and researchers at the Schools of Medicine, Dental Medicine, and Public Health. Widely recognized and deeply respected, Paul has long been a trusted partner and a go-to expert for research and instructional support.
Among his many accomplishments, Paul has contributed significantly to the scholarly record as a co-author on more than 30 systematic review projects. He has also supported countless mediated literature searches, helping advance research across a range of disciplines.
Paul leaves behind a remarkable legacy of service, scholarship, and mentorship that will have a lasting impact on the Countway community. He will be greatly missed.
