Long Story Short Award

Two years ago, Countway Library began a partnership with Short Edition to bring short moments of literature to the Longwood community via a Short Story Dispenser. The Dispenser, found in the entryway to Countway Library, provides 1, 3, or 5-minute short pieces of literature at the push of a button. In the stressful environments of healthcare, taking a minute or three to pause and dive into a new world offers a calming reprieve. While our Dispenser is unavailable during our renovation (fear not, it will return soon!), you can still get that reprieve by reading stories on Short Edition's website.

While reading short stories is a great way to relax, we know that our student community has stories of their own to share. That's why we have partnered with Short Edition for their Long Story Short Award to help share those stories with the world! From October 5th until November 19th, students are invited to submit short stories, poetry, and creative nonfiction of 7,500 characters or less for a chance to win up to $500. You can find all the contest details on the Long Story Short Award website or you can contact Countway librarian, Matthew Noe with questions.

Stretch your imagination, put your hopes into words, share your 2020 grief - whatever your approach to writing, let your voice be heard and join the Long Story Short Award contest today!
