The Center for the History of Medicine is pleased to announce that the Everett Anderson papers are now open to research.
Everett Anderson (1928-2024) was James Stillman Professor of Comparative Anatomy and Cellular Biology at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and Associate Director of the Laboratory for Human Reproduction and Reproductive Biology (LHRRB). Anderson joined Harvard Medical School in 1972 after professorships in Anatomy at Howard University School of Medicine and Zoology at University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Anderson specialized in reproductive biology, particularly oogenesis (the process involved in the formation and development of the ovum), as well as polycystic ovarian disease (PCOS, now polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome or PMOS). Anderson also specialized in gross anatomy and taught human dissection courses at HMS. Anderson was awarded the Faculty Prize for Excellence in Teaching at HMS in 1986. He was a founding member of the Society for the Study of Reproduction.
The Everett Anderson papers, 1934-2018 (inclusive), 1966-2018 (bulk), are the product of Anderson's teaching and research as James Stillman Professor of Comparative Anatomy and Cellular Biology and Associate Director of the LHRRB at HMS. The papers consist of teaching and lecture records, administrative files, publication files, person files, primarily on the topics of human anatomy and reproductive biology.
