Week 127: Countway News

This week’s message focuses on leadership and collaboration opportunities for Countway staff to participate in developing and influencing future strategic directions for Countway, including CHOM.

New Countway Manager’s Team

On Wednesday, October 5th, a new team met for the first time. This team is called the CMT, or Countway Manager’s Team. The idea behind this new team is that while there is CAT, the administration team, there is no team that includes managers from all departments within the Countway. The members of the new CMT are Emily Gustainis and Len Levin, co-chairs, and Paul Bain (R&I), Meredith Solomon (Outreach), Scott Lapinski (Publishing/Data Services), Erika Nosike (Access Services), Jess Murphy (CHOM Public Services), Charlotte Lellman (CHOM Collection Services Archivist), and Dominic Hall (WAM Curator). This group will meet monthly and will focus on topics such as best practices for performance evaluations/goal setting/onboarding new staff. This group will also be a conduit to share ideas to be brought up to CAT and CAT initiatives that need to be shared by managers with their staff. In addition, as the Countway embarks on its next strategic plan, the CMT will be the group that will have responsibility for leading and monitoring the initiatives on which we will be working in the upcoming years.

Strategic Planning

Now that the Countway’s Strategic Plan from 2017 is complete (with great success), it is time to launch a brand-new strategic planning process that will guide the library through the next few years. Library organizational consultant Maureen Sullivan will once again be joining us to lead us through the process of identifying goals and developing the new plan. Please hold late morning/early afternoon of Wednesday, November 30th, for our first full staff meeting with Maureen. With the first renovation complete, the L1 renovation project kicking off before year’s end, and us slowly but surely reemerging from the pandemic of the past two years, we have a lot to celebrate at the Countway and our new strategic plan will help us define how to make the Countway even better for our users and our staff moving forward.

I hope you are enjoying the fall semester!
